CNN Interactive - Headlines and stories from CNN. More than a years worth of past articles can be searched. Offers a compilation of articles for long running stories or events.

Economist - "The International Weekly Journal of News, Ideas, Opinion, and Analysis." Features selected articles from the current issue, an archive of past issues, a style guide, and a library of key articles from past issues.

Fox News - Current United States and International news, including politics, technology, health, and weather.

Google News - Search for news articles in roughly 4500 sources from the past 30 days.

MSNBC - Provides the latest news and feature stories from around the globe, in-depth reports on various topics.

New York Times - Search the archive for articles back to 1996. Access for articles from the previous 7 days is free, but a password is required.

USA Today - Nationwide news is updated hourly. Archives are available from 1988 to present. Purchase back issues or reprints.

Washington Post
- Search the archives of the Post back to 1977 and most of the Associated Press wire for two weeks. The full text of articles that appear in the print version, including those from the AP wire service, are also provided. There is a fee for full-text articles.

Yahoo! News - Search for articles from the past seven days, provided by Reuters General News, Reuters Securities News, PR Newswire, Business Wire, Motley Fool and UPI. Can be searched by topic or region.

Vanderbilt Television News Archive - The Archive began taping the evening news broadcasts of the three major networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC, on August 5, 1968. This collection has been abstracted with story level descriptions. Also has a database of special reports and periodic broadcasts and specialized collections such as the Gulf War. Individuals may make video tape loan requests for reference, classroom instruction, and research. Searchable and browsable.
