Here’s how to renew your library items online
using the GeoWeb online card catalog:
- Go to the Brevard County Libraries website www.brev.org and click on the
tab marked CARD CATALOG.
- When the CARD CATALOG screen displays, click on LOGIN TO THE CARD CATALOG
(about halfway down the page.)
- Enter your library card number with no spaces and the first three letters
of your last name in lower case. Continue the login process until you get
to the DATABASE SELECTION page.
- When you are at the DATABASE SELECTION page, look at the blue buttons on
the left of the screen. Click the PATRON FUNCTIONS button.
- When the popup box appears, re-enter your library card number with no spaces
and the first three letters of your last name in lower case and click the
button marked VIEW PATRON RECORD.
- Your name should appear in the middle of the PATRON RECORD screen. To view
and renew your items, click the blue button marked ITEMS LIST.
- When your list of items displays, click the blue button marked RENEW ITEMS.
- The Renewal screen gives you the option to RENEW ALL ITEMS or RENEW SELECTED
ITEMS. To renew selected items, click the box to the left of the item you
wish to renew, then click RENEW SELECTED ITEMS.
- The renewal process is complete when you see a screen headed RENEWAL RESPONSE.
Please read this screen carefully—this is where you will learn whether
the renewal was successful, or if you need to return the item or contact
your local library.
RENEWAL REMINDERS:
**Generally, books and recordings such as CDs and audiobooks are renewed for
a week and videos and DVDs for two days. However, the renewal extension is
always calculated from the day you make the request. For example, if you have
a book due January 21st, and you renew it on January 4th, your new due date
will become January 11th, effectively shortening your loan period. So don’t
renew your items until a day or so before they are due.
**But please leave yourself time to contact your local library by phone if
for some reason the renewal process doesn’t work. Do not leave renewal
requests on the Ask A Librarian page,
which is for emailing reference questions. This email account may not be
checked in a timely enough manner to prevent your item
from becoming overdue.
**Remember, some items cannot be renewed, such as Stellar Sellers (marked
with a pink band) and items for which other people are waiting. You cannot
renew items that are already overdue. Interlibrary Loan books (borrowed from
outside Brevard County) may sometimes be renewed, but to do this, check with
the reference librarian at your local library. Allow yourself enough time to
return nonrenewable items to avoid paying overdue fines.
