Chairman's Report:
Plant Fair - The plant fair made one
hundred and six dollars ($106.00). Mike C. is preparing
a manual full of contacts to aid in the preparation
of next year's plant sale. Next year a Gardening
Program with a Master Gardener should be planned
in conjunction with the Plant Fair.
October County Library Board Meeting
- The Advisory Board made a presentation at the
meeting to promote ideas for improving Library Services.
Along with Programs that would enhance the library,
security of sensitive sites was discussed and the
cost involved.
Publication of Meetings - It was stressed
that the local Advisory Board Meetings and the Friends
of the Library Meetings are not being publicized
in the Bookmark or Florida Today. Legal notices
are faxed to the Florida Today to be published but
have not been in the paper.
The historical papers have been photocopied
in their original colors and cataloged and will
be given to Nancy Garmer for the Historical section
of the library.
Mike C. would like ideas from the
members of the board for programs. Book Signings
could be an interesting addition to programs.
Appreciation Dinner - Mike C. distributed
menus for the Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, December
6th 6:00pm, at Ozzie's Crab house. Significant others
and spouses are invited. It is requested that everyone
RSVP and the preferences for dinner be given to
Mike C. as soon as possible.
Friends Report - Bob Carillion
reported it has been a difficult time for the Board
of late with the passing of President Frances Higginson,
and the departure of their publicity person. Elections
will be in January 2008 and things should be back
to running smoothly. Mike P. offered the assistance
from the Library Advisory Board to the Friend's
Board should they need any help in the interim period.
Director's Report -
New Computers - Mike P. reported there are two more
computers being purchased by the Friends to help
with the increasing demand for computer usage. This
is very much appreciated and will enable the library
to give a better level of service to patrons.
Plant Fair - Mike P. formally thanked
the Board for all the hard work that went into organizing
the Plant Fair. It was suggested that Pat Brink,
a Master Gardener from the South Mainland Community
Center be asked to participate next year.
Book Club - Pat Freeman was special
guest for the Third Thursday Book Clubs book for
October, Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. There was
a large turnout and the discussion was enjoyed by
all.
Computer Classes - Jim Wheeler has
returned to resume the computer classes for the
library on Tuesdays.
He is teaching a beginner's and intermediate class.
Classes on special topics are being coordinated
to be taught by Mike P. and Nancy Garmer, Reference
Librarian.

George T. for his help in construction of the Puppet
Theatre.
