Advisory Board Meeting
October 15, 2007

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Donald
Messenger at 5:15 pm.
Minutes from November 19, 2007 minutes were approved
as read.
Director's Report
1) Circulation Aide
a) We are in the process of hiring a Circulation Library
Aide. We had 34 applicants.
2) Circulation Statistics
a) Circulation statistics continue to increase for
Stellar Seller DVDs but the fiction and non-fiction
books still remain low.
3) Paperback Donations
a) We are still asking other libraries to donate their
paperbacks. So far, West Melbourne library has sent
us two courier boxes full.
4) Programs
a) Reference Librarian Beth Doud has been setting
up programs to coordinate with The Space Coast Birding
and Wildlife Festival and also the theme of "New
Years" (resolutions and holiday overspending).
b) Per the request of Suesan Ellison, Beth also contacted
and scheduled author of "Run to the Roar"
Joe Hurston.
5) Construction
a) All bids are in for the flooring as of the January
10, 2008. Cost is $50,000-$80,000. This is lower than
before. Several contractors came in during the time
the bidding was open. Repairs should take approximately
60 days.
b) The contractors will be moving books.
c) Cathy Schweinsberg said library would remain open,
this is great news. We may have to use alternate doors.
d) Large sections of the library could be closed down.
Old Business
1) Advisory Boards
a) Suesan Ellison attended an Advisory Board meeting
at the Port St. John library. They spoke about the
credit card machine to pay fines, the ILS system and
employee raises.
New Business
No new business was discussed.
