Yoga has hit the U.S. mainstream: supermodels and
star athletes, corporate executives, housewives, and
seniors are all discovering the many benefits of yoga
practice. Join experienced certified yoga teacher
Emily Hain and experience the relaxation and well-being
of a gentle yoga class. (There will be no class on
Friday, May 30th.) Each class includes breath awareness
exercises, warm-ups for each joint and major muscle
group, as well as traditional hatha yoga poses modified
for accessibility for every body. Class ends with
a period of guided relaxation that will leave you
feeling calm and refreshed. Cost is $5 per class.
Bring a towel or mat and wear comfortable clothing.

As gas prices soar and additional price increases
are projected, more people are considering buying
hybrid and electric cars. But what has research shown?
Are electric and hybrid cars reliable, and do they
offer enough pep and features? Understand more about
the costs and benefits of alternative vehicle technology
at a talk hosted by the Central Brevard Library in
Cocoa. Bill Young, an engineer at Florida Solar Energy
Center, will answer your questions about gas mileage
and maintenance costs, as well as the factors to consider
when making a choice between models. For more information,

Make the choice now to develop your artistic spirit!
Watercolor artist Pearl Ollie shares her talent and
techniques at a weekly watercolor class sponsored
by Central Brevard Library in Cocoa. Students will
create original works of art ranging from portraits
to still-lives to landscapes and seascapes, with a
focus on learning techniques. If you are interested
in exploring your artistic side, this is the class
for you! All levels are welcome, from beginning to
advanced. The cost is $10, which includes supplies.

to write short stories, poems and songs with writing
mentor Marilyn Sewall in classes sponsored by the
Central Brevard Library in Cocoa. All levels of writers
are welcome every Wednesday. The cost is $10/class.

Central Brevard Library in Cocoa is pleased to offer
a recent box office movie at our free program, Popcorn

an adopted young man who tries to find his natural

May 15, 1:00 p.m. RIVER INTO THE NEW WORLD
Experience the natural beauty and intriguing characters
and wildlife of the St. Johns River during a movie
and talk at the Central Brevard Library in Cocoa.
Called Americas First River since its discovery by
the French Huguenots in 1564, the St. Johns is also
known as the laziest river, for its slow northern
flow and broad marshes from the Everglades to Jacksonville.
Mark Middlebrook, an expert from the St. Johns River
Alliance, will also describe issues of water quality
and the tussles over states rights for water withdrawals
that are supplanting the idyllic river life. For more

May 15, 1:00 p.m. MYSTERY BOOK CLUB
The "It's A Mystery" book group will meet
at the Central Brevard Library in Cocoa to discuss
"Luck, Accidents or Fate: the mysteries of Barbara
Michaels/Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Mertz". Everyone
is welcome and registration is not required.
May 18, 2:00 p.m. ANOTHER EMBELLISHED AFTERNOON
Ring in spring at the Central Brevard Library in Cocoa
at a free performance by Brevards finest community
handbell choir. The Celebration Ringers will demonstrate
their unique, lively style when they perform a variety
of sacred and secular music. Ringleader Diane Click
believes this years show will be enjoyed by a wide-ranging
audience, including as it does a medley of TV theme
songs, big band and swing, and a jazz number featuring
the alto saxophone played by Jim Bishop, Jr. The choir
performs on 5 octaves of handbells and also uses 5
octaves of choir chimes. No reservations are necessary.

May 20, 7:00 p.m. BERMUDA SUICIDE CHALLENGE
What happens when two Merritt Island brothers set
off on a 1,500 mile boat trip in a 21-foot flat boat
and set two world records? Find out when Bob Brown
describes their trip and plays highlights from it
on DVD at the Central Brevard Library in Cocoa. Hear
first-hand a story of risk, adventure and reward for
the Brown brothers as they cross the treacherous north
Atlantic from North Carolina to Bermuda to New York.
Signed copies of Browns new book, Bermuda Suicide
Challenge, will be available after the program.
