Services for the Disabled

Back to About Our Libraries

Brevard County Libraries provides many services for the disabled, some of which are nationally known. For example, we receive requests for information on our assistive reading devices from many parts of the country (and even internationally).

Homebound Services

This is a free service for Brevard County residents who are homebound or handicapped and unable to visit the library. Books of your choice are mailed to your home in regular or large print. Catalogs are mailed to you throughout the year to help you with your book selection. You can mail your books back to the library or have them dropped off at any of the seventeen public libraries in our system.

For more information or to begin this service, call (321) 633-1815 or drop us a card at:

Talking Books

The Talking Books/Homebound Services has many devices and special materials to assist blind, physically handicapped and/or homebound citizens to access library services. Talking Books, a Subregional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, provides books and magazines on audiocassette as well as the equipment needed to play them. Homebound Services mails library materials to patrons in their homes. If you or a loved one needs these services, call Talking Books/Homebound Services between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

We will be happy to come out to clubs and organizations to speak about our programs. We participate in health fairs also. Please contact us at the numbers listed below.
